HubSpot AEO Grader (AI Search Grader): free check, how it scores
HubSpot AEO Grader is a free, one-time check of how AI engines describe a brand. HubSpot's grader page also uses the name AI Search Grader. You enter a company name, location, products and industry; it queries OpenAI (GPT-5.4 mini), Perplexity and Gemini and scores the brand out of 100 across sentiment, presence quality, brand recognition, share of voice and market competition. It costs nothing and needs no account, only a short form. For ongoing tracking HubSpot sells HubSpot AEO at $50/month.

What the HubSpot AEO Grader checks
HubSpot's AEO Grader asks a simple question: what do AI engines say about your brand? It works from four inputs, all required: company name, location (a city, country, region or global), products or services in a few words, and industry. It then queries three engines, which HubSpot names as GPT-5.4 mini (OpenAI), Perplexity and Gemini (Google), cross-checks the answers and returns a score out of 100.
| Dimension | Max points | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Sentiment | 40 | The tone AI uses about your brand, including contextual and source-based sentiment |
| Presence quality | 20 | Depth of mentions, source quality and data richness |
| Brand recognition | 20 | How widely the brand is recognized in AI training data |
| Share of voice | 10 | Your standing against competitors in AI answers at the time of the check |
| Market competition | 10 | Your category role (Leader, Challenger or Niche Player) and innovation perception |
Sentiment carries the most weight, so the grader is above all a reputation check. Share of voice is a small part of the score; for a fuller view of that metric, see AI share of voice.
The name: AEO Grader and AI Search Grader
People search for "HubSpot AI Search Grader" and "AEO grader" interchangeably. They are the same tool. HubSpot's AEO product page refers to it as the free AEO Grader, a one-time diagnostic, while the grader page itself still carries the AI Search Grader name. "AEO" stands for answer engine optimization.
What it does not do
The grader is a snapshot built from the models' training data, and HubSpot says results are not guaranteed and the recommendations are AI-generated without human review. It does not track specific prompts over time, it does not show which of your pages are cited, and it does not cover Claude, Copilot or Grok. Because it accepts any brand name, you can run it on competitors too.
HubSpot AEO, the paid version
For ongoing tracking HubSpot sells HubSpot AEO at $50/month, or $45/month billed annually. It includes 25 prompts (more can be bought), tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and adds brand visibility and sentiment, competitor share of voice, citation analysis and prioritized recommendations. HubSpot also offers a free AI Search Sensor that follows industry-wide shifts but not your own brand.
If you want more engines or deeper prompt tracking, compare Otterly.AI, Peec AI or Waikay, which also starts with a free tier.
HubSpot AEO Grader and GetPicked
Both are free starting points. HubSpot's grader scores brand perception from the models' training data on three engines and leads into HubSpot AEO tracking. GetPicked's Pick Check (free with an account) looks at whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok recommend your site and who they pick instead, then offers copy-ready fixes that a human approves and that are verified after they go live.
GetPicked wrote this page and sells a competing product. Facts above come from HubSpot AEO Grader's own pages, linked below.
